Text Box: Pastor’s Thoughts

What is on my mind? Today my focus has been wrapped around the unfailing, consistent, faithful presence of the Lord. When the song writer pinned the words to the great hymn, “I Need Thee Every Hour,” he must have been in a similar frame of mind. I have far too many daily issues to contend with to use my own judgment, experience and reason to choose which doors to open and close. Praise God, I don’t have to give it my best shot, I don’t have to blindly decide, nor do I have to trust in good fortune or what some call luck! I have a Companion; one provided by Jesus my Savior in whom I know has all wisdom and is fully capable of given guidance and Heavenly council.
Not only that, but I find great joy in His companionship. I am never alone! If I am suffering he is comforting. When I find myself in a valley of despair, confused or frustrated the Spirit knows just what I need to lift my spirit! When I smell the roses, enjoy the sound of birds singing, or simply take a walk with Jeane, I feel Him taking pleasure in my experiences. No matter where I go or what I am doing, He is aware of my thoughts, my moods, and my emotions.
The Holy Spirit is not a busybody, a snoop, or a judge looking over my shoulders grading my performance, He has the same qualities as Jesus. He loves me, desires what is best for my life here and now. He wants me to love God with all of my heart and to be able to love those around me as well. When I get hurt, angry, or just upset by what someone has done to me or someone I love, he reminds of what the Lord endured to save me. He has such a calming presence.
The Spirit abides selflessly by our side, often unnoticed by yet ever faithful! I don’t deserve this but I would not trade it for all the world!
