Text Box: Pastor’s Thoughts

Have you seen the forecast? Part of my daily routine involves checking on today’s weather especially in the heat of summer. Is it supposed to rain or it going to be too hot and muggy to do things outside? There is always plenty to do in the office, visits I can make, or other indoor responsibilities I can fulfill to get the most out of a day when the weather is incorporative. However when the forecast calls for a cool and dry day, I want to get the grass cut, work in the garden, trim around the house or plan some worthwhile outdoor activity.

So much hinges on what the meteorologist has to say. But you know they are not always accurate on their projections. They study radar maps, examine the jet streams, note low or high pressure movements, monitor cold and warm fronts, and yet all too often misjudge their forecast and thus mess up my plans.

The Bible also makes predictions. They are better known as prophesies. Those who say God has given them a message when in truth He has not, or if their prophesy represent a message from some other god, that prophet is condemned to die according to Deut 18:20 and you need not regard his message. Don’t let their predictions affect your plans. However when the Word of God makes a statement concerning future events, and it is properly interrupted in the context in which it was inspired, that prediction is 100% accurate and can be absolutely relied upon. It should be taken seriously and it definably should affect you.

Having that being said please consider these Biblical truths:

Heb 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

John 5:28-29 “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

Matt 24:42 “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
