Text Box: Pastor's Thoughts

The Psalmist spoke of his place of refuge, his hiding place, at times even calling it his fortress. Each reference was used to depict his ability to connect with God, therein finding solace and peace. My thoughts today, are we at least aware, and more importantly, are we taking advantage of this blessed place of which David wrote, in our troubled world?

This thought certainly doesn't originate with me; others have exposed the value of such a place. None the less, to be reminded, and encouraged to go there can take advantage of God's provision can make a great difference in how we cope with the pressures of everyday life. Take for instance the lyrics penned by Johnson Oatman, Jr. in his song, "Alone With God"

When storms of life are 'round me beating,
When rough the path that I have trod,
Within my closet door retreating,
I love to be alone with God.

Alone with God, the world forbidden,
Alone with God, O blest retreat!
Alone with God and in Him hidden,
To hold with Him communion sweet.

Do you feel at times overwhelmed, frustrated, pressured, or even at a point of desperation? Remember there is a place you can go and find peace. Our Father's arms of love are always open to us. He can shelter us in the storm; He can quiet the noise, still our heart, and give assurance like no other.

My thoughts today remind me that I have a Father who loves and protects me and promises to lead me safely home if I will only trust Him. I share these thoughts with you that you too may be reminded of that special place, Sheltered in the Arms of God.
