Pastor’s Thoughts
When one makes the choice to walk with God they gain a totally different prospective of life. Things that would have never caught our attention in the past are now not only noticed, but somehow they carry us into the reality of His divine presence. A believer’s spirit becomes so much more sensitive to the handy work of God and the natural response is praise and appreciation.
As a young man I always loved the out of doors whether I was hiking with my grandfather, hunting with my dad, sleigh riding down a hill with my brothers and sister or just watching the New River flow by while I sat by the campfire. However when I reflect back on those days before I came to know Jesus, I seldom if ever really thought about God providing all of that beauty for me to enjoy. Honestly I took it all for granted. Something happened that changed that perspective when I met Jesus Christ and He reconciled me to God my Father.
Now I see God everywhere I go. He resides in the sunrise and sunset. I see Him in clear night sky. He rests just beyond the clouds where I look for His appearing. How could I have gazed at the colorful mountains in the fall, the glistening snow in the winter, smell the fragrance of springtime and not see God? Honestly I don’t know, however things are so different now. I feel so sorry for those who buy into the lie of evolution and I pity those who refuse to see the GLORY OF OUR GOD in the things that He has created.
The crown of creation, mankind, reveals His greatest glory. It is so easy to view Christians in the same way I used to view the world. We tend to look at them through judgmental eyes, we point out their faults, and we are quick to pick up on their weaknesses. We see all of their humanness without considering the beauty that lies beyond the surface. There He is within their soul, Christ Jesus, residing and impacting their choices. Jesus, the best there is inside working, shaping and molding their character and attitudes. How do we miss that? Why do we look for the faults and failures while overlooking the awesome good that He is producing within them? The world may look at the Church with disdain, but God has shown me her glory and beauty, not just theologically, I see that beauty in each child of God. I am utterly amazed at the sight of God at work in His saints!
