Pastor's Thoughts

Where else would my thoughts be than on the tremendous effort in which our congregation put forth at this year's Fall Festival. The Fayetteville First Church of God made a visible statement concerning our commitment to present Christ to our community. I know the Bible speaks against a proud heart, but that isn't in reference to being proud of others. As your Pastor I can say that I am so very proud of your commitment and sacrifice for the cause of Christ.

The work started long before the Festival began. Donations of fifteen hundred hot dogs, hundreds of buns, along with well over a hundred dollars in prizes for the children were secured through the efforts of this congregation. Six of our ladies donated and provided chili for the hot dogs. Games were planned, prizes for those games were purchased through your tithes and offerings, and our workers got everything set up in anticipation of over one thousand visitors to this year's festival. All of this effort that we could engage our community with the love of God and share the Gospel of Christ.

The work continued as fifteen believers' from the Church of God at Fayetteville personally participated in sharing God's love at the festival. Over five hundred Bibles were handed out by the Gideons, one of our own was there wearing a smile as big as the kids who received them. I watched as six more member of our congregation shared the message of God's love and salvation to child after child while painting footballs, flowers, owls, and other objects on their faces or arms. Then there were those who supervised the games and hay ride, now that might not seem like a powerful witness, but believe me when I say is was. I watched as those seven individuals related with the children, and what I saw was God's love in action.

At the end of the day when an invitation was given , I saw many hands raised as an indication that they where accepting Christ invitation to be forgiven. I can say without and reservation, Fayetteville First Church of God's efforts were not in vain.
