Pastor's Thoughts

Is there hope? June leaves us in a state of heart brokenness, lives lost, families devastated, homes and businesses destroyed. The storms that thundered through our mountains filled our streams beyond their capacity producing a sense of lost to every West Virginian. As strong as the storms is the spirit of those who live in our great state. Churches, businesses, along with government agencies have begun the restoration process where possible. So is there hope, you better believe it.

Here is Fayette County churches are sheltering families and locals are donating abundant supplies. I've been in contact with several agencies and officials to see where our church can be involved with a "hands on" approach to cleaning and helping to restore homes. Thanks for your donations church, the drop off attendant was thrilled to see all the bleach and cleaning supplies we were able to provide. The work is only beginning but with God's help, the job will get done.

The one area in this life that men cannot repair, no government agency can provide aide, nor can the church provide a cure, I speak of the homes where death has come. However that doesn't mean there is no hope. There is a God in heaven who offers life beyond this world. He has a prepared place for a prepared people. We never know what a day may bring, even within the next hour we could be facing eternity, and if that be the case, we need to be prepared for eternity?

Grieving families, have one true source of comfort, Christ Jesus! The rushing water may have taken loved ones to the end of life here, but let us never forget that Jesus was there to meet them all at the end of that journey. Our love, sympathy, and most of all our prayers at the Fayetteville Church of God goes out to those families who have lost family members in the wake of these storms. I hope each family suffering such a loss, has a church that will stand beside them and love them like the one I am privileged to Pastor. May God help, bless and comfort those who have suffered and may they never lose hope
